As stated in Sheryl Sandberg's "Lean In", 74% of professional women rejoin the workforce after taking time off to have families. NeighborMe was a start-up created to empower those women who are aiming to re-enter the workforce.

The Problem We Tackled
43% of highly qualified women with children are leaving their careers for a period of time, Lean In states. Their reason for temporarily stepping away the workforce is important, yet what happens when they try to jump back in? There's a myriad of obstacles in their way: the difficulty of working long and intense hours when you have children at home, lack of structural support from corporations, a "gap" in resumes (check out this study on how being a stay-at-home mom is the equivalent of working 2.5 jobs). Then, at the most basic level, what job will they do? With technology and innovation moving as fast as it is today, jobs that exist today did not even exist four or five years ago. Depending on how long they were out of the workforce, new job types (and new skills for those jobs) can be unfamiliar. JobFairy was created to help women navigate the job search and find roles they might not even know about.
The Task
In order to fulfill our mission, I focused on:
-
Creating an online platform that would represent and promote the empowering tone of the brand
-
Creating a scalable and profitable service that would provide three personalized job recommendations per week based on the individual user's skills and schedule
My Approach
As a founding member of the venture, I executed various roles to oversee the larger vision:
-
Authored a six-month business plan and product roadmap by researching market trends, competitors, and fundraising opportunities
-
Designed a user-friendly website, copywrote website content, and established brand digital tone
-
Implemented user experience testing by designing online survey
-
Crafted a social media proposal by evaluating platforms, determining growth opportunities, and drafting advertising copy for both JobFairy and NeighborMe (Lisa's other company that would be merged with JobFairy)
-
Produced graphic design for online interactions with users (e.g. thank you note for subscribing)
Some Graphic Design
A sample graphic design I created for users who sign up for the service.
